How to transcribe Vietnamese with Vibe

  1. Install Vibe from the download page.
  2. Download a multilingual Whisper model sized for your computer—often Medium is a good anchor.
  3. Set language to vi for more consistent results than auto-detect.
  4. Import your file (or use supported URL flows if you use them).
  5. Export to SRT, TXT, DOCX, or another format you need.

Accuracy notes

Vietnamese is a tonal language with complex diacritics. Vibe outputs Vietnamese with full diacritic marks correctly. The Medium model handles Northern Vietnamese (Hà Nội) accent well. Southern Vietnamese (Hồ Chí Minh City) accent is also supported but with slightly higher error rates. The Large model is recommended for mixed accents.

Medium model: approximately 8–12% WER on Northern Vietnamese. One of the better-supported Southeast Asian languages.

Common use cases

Transcribe Vietnamese YouTube videos, business meetings, education content, and news broadcasts.
